As we approach the first day of the shooting season, our minds naturally turn to what would make the perfect pub in Cheshire for welcoming shooting parties looking for a place to stay.

Some of the key ingredients would be great rooms for the party to stay in, a range of beers and wine to enjoy, as well as excellent, hearty food to satisfy some big appetites. However, perhaps the most important ingredient must be a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with fires lit on the cooler nights and a place to chat and reminisce about the day’s events.

Picking the perfect pub to stay in is therefore very important as it can make the whole occasion even more memorable. Here we share some of our thoughts on what we believe makes the perfect pub for shooting parties, and why you may consider The Swan at Tarporley for your trip.

Cheshire Accommodation For Shooting Parties

Shooting parties are typically made up of groups of 8 to 10 and may need to accommodate partners too, who are also looking to enjoy a few days in the countryside. One of the main attractions of a shooting break is the fun and comradery shared between the team so it’s ideal if the pub can provide rooms for all the party to stay in the same accommodation.

The rooms would preferably be ensuite and spacious and with easy access to the bar and eating area. Having an ensuite helps reduce the rush in the morning as it’s often an early start to meet and be briefed on the day ahead.

Food And Drink Options

After a busy day in the field, whether walking through woods or climbing the hills to your pegs… Returning to the pub for a few beers, a lit fire and an evening meal is a very important part of the day. Selecting the right pub is therefore critical!

Not only should your pub have a great range of local beers and fine wines but also an evening menu that has something for everyone.  It’s also particularly nice if the pub supports the local community and preferably would have some game on the menu to choose from.

Luckily at The Swan, we shoot every single box!

Location For Cheshire Shooting

Cheshire has some fantastic shoots along the Sandstone Trail and is also very conveniently placed for excursions into North Wales where some of the world’s best game shooting can be found.

The county is conveniently located on the Welsh border and has easy access to motorway networks or trains for those coming from further afield to enjoy the shooting in the area.  It therefore provides the perfect springboard to discover the local countryside or to head into the mountains of North Wales.

If game shooting is not your thing there are plenty of clay shoots within easy access too including, Mickley Hall, the West Midland Shooting Ground and the North Wales Shooting School all within half an hour’s drive.

We believe that at The Swan at Tarporley, we’re perfectly suited to be Cheshire’s perfect pub for shooting parties as we tick all the boxes whether, excellent and spacious accommodation, a fantastic range of food and drink but perhaps most importantly of all – a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Contact the team if you have any special requests and we look forward to welcoming you to Cheshire’s perfect pub for shooting parties.
