The History Of The Swan
Built in the 16th century, The Swan at Tarporley has been welcoming guests through its doors for more than 400 years. We’re set in the heart of West Cheshire and can be described as a quintessential English village pub steeped in history.
Once a convenient resting place for those travelling some 200 miles from London to Chester, The Swan now hosts comfortable rooms and welcoming bar and dining areas that mean we can continue to be a haven for visitors from far and wide.
A lot of the cosy Cheshire pubs in the small towns and villages around us can offer a historic and charming atmosphere, but we think nobody does it quite like The Swan!
Staying Overnight Here
When you stay with us here at The Swan, your night will be comfortable and relaxed. Our individually, beautifully designed, boutique en-suite bedrooms offer guests all they need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. We have 16 B&B rooms at The Swan at Tarporley, which include singles, twins, doubles, family rooms and suites. They were last extensively renovated just a couple of years ago.
And as a nod to our past, six of our sixteen rooms are located in our recently converted Coaching House, situated in the courtyard, and three of which are dog friendly!
As soon as you check into one of our boutique rooms, our staff will be on hand to take care of you for the rest of your stay, day, or night we will be on hand to make your visit with us special.
Eating Out On The Evening
At The Swan, we don’t just offer regular ‘pub grub’ food, we provide a full dining experience. We have experienced chefs who create new and delicious comfort gourmet food, and we add to our menu regularly. Dishes are seasonal and made mostly with local produce. We love to give our customers the opportunity to experience exciting new dishes, filled with fantastic flavours.
Some of our customer favourites include our buttermilk fried chicken in a basket with sides, or anything cooked up on our state-of-the-art Josper oven. Did you know all of our dishes can be perfectly paired with a wine from our worldly wine list?
Our beef and lamb, fruit and vegetables, cheese, bread and even ice cream is all locally sourced from suppliers 25 miles or less from The Swan. We ensure to purchase only the finest ingredients from local suppliers to guarantee all our dishes are high quality, and of course great tasting.
What To Do In The Local Area
For many of our guests, one of the most attractive things about staying with us is that we are located in the beautiful village of Tarporley. Our small yet magnificent village has several stunning castles and heritage buildings to be explored.
If it’s with your partner, dog or all the family, Tarporley have some extraordinary options including The Sandstone Trail. It’s the ruby-like jewel in the North West’s crown when it comes to walking routes. The ramble, which has short or long treks depending on your preference, is the perfect way to take in the beauty of the Cheshire plains, whilst getting the opportunity to explore some of the most amazing castles Cheshire has to offer.
